Case Study - Mayfield Primary School

Inspired Visual design and manufacture school wall art with a focus on vision and values

 

The challenge

To design and install a school values display that conveys the school’s ethos.

The headteacher of Mayfield Primary School, Belinda Ewart, had just been given the keys to the brand new school, which had been built on the grounds of the old school in Ealing, West London. Working closely with her School Business Manager, Alex Evans, her brief to us was to work with the pastel tones of the interior, alongside 3 key themes which were very important to the school, and create school corridor and classroom wall displays.

• Firstly ‘Darwin The Owl’, which formed part of the school logo.
• Secondly the use of trees and nature (each class within the school was named after a tree).
• Thirdly the school’s passion for encouraging children to read. We were asked to illustrate Dr Seuss’ creation: ‘The Cat In The Hat.’

The solution

Engaging graphics that communicate the school vision and values.

Following an initial design meeting, we went away to consider the brief before presenting a selection of school corridor and classroom wall displays for consideration.

After a couple of tweaks, the school signage designs were printed and installed on a weekend to avoid any disruption to the school.

Execution

A range of school wall, windows and floor graphics installed both inside and outside of the schools.

The school signage designs and classroom wall displays were produced on a range of durable large format print materials including one piece wallpaper, cut out self-adhesive vinyl stickers, transparent coloured window vinyl graphics and frosted manifestation graphics.

Results

An inspirational school environment that provides a positive learning environment and promotes good behaviour from its pupils.
