Inspired Visual give London hospital a makeover

Over 500 square metres of healthcare wall graphics were installed to create a visually seamless and vibrant environment. The designs were printed using wall graphics with an anti-microbial laminate finish.

 

The challenge

To create a visually seamless, vibrant and child-friendly hospital environment.

We were approached by North Middlesex University NHS Foundation Trust to produce hospital wall artwork to help improve the experience of young patients at their newly-redeveloped paediatric department.

The hospital wall graphics needed to comprise a variety of bold, colourful countryside landscapes to promote a connection with the outside world as well as emotional contemplation.

The solution

Printed full-colour wall graphics designed to blend in within hospital surroundings.

After undertaking a thorough site survey of the department, we worked closely with the paediatric team to create the right wall graphic designs for the right spaces. Consideration was given to obstacles such as doors, windows, sockets, radiators, televisions and hospital equipment.

We created visual mock-ups of the healthcare wall graphics to aide with the approval process and, once the designs were signed off, we printed the graphics on specialist vinyl with an anti-microbial laminate that complied with strict health and safety guidelines.

Before commencing, we provided a thorough risk assessment and method statement for the proposed healthcare wall graphics installation.

 

Execution

Out-of-hours installation completed with minimum disruption to the hospital.

As the department was “live” we worked overnight for a week to avoid disruption to patients and staff. High-level graphics were fitted using a scissor lifter.

We liaised with staff regularly to ensure disruption was kept to a minimum.

Results

A modern, welcoming and child-friendly hospital environment delivered on time and on budget.

We designed, created and installed elements of the hospital wall displays that could be changed quickly and easily without the need for specialist installers.
