Case Study - Moorgate Primary Academy

Inspired Visual was asked to install wall graphics for Moorgate Primary Academy

The use of school wall signage is a good way to create an attractive, cost-effective and low maintenance way to transform bland school corridors and uninspiring areas into informative, educational and aspirational spaces. Here we take a closer look at how the team of school wall art specialists from Inspired Visual helped one school brighten up the fabric of its school buildings.

The challenge

To get positive messages across at Moorgate Primary Academy.

We were approached by Moorgate Primary Academy (part of the Staffordshire University Academies Trust) to design, print and install large-format wall graphics and displays to enhance the internal environment of the academy for its students, staff and visitors. After leaving the old Moorgate School building back in 2015 for the newly-built facilities of the academy, the leadership team felt that after 3 years it was time to maintain the feel-good factor from the move. Using the blank canvasses of the walls in the corridors, classrooms, hallways, library, reception and entrance areas, we were asked to come up with a concept that communicated the Academy’s core values and beliefs in a consistent fashion.

The solution

A great design that worked really well with our own academy’s values and beliefs.

Taking into account the layout of the building, as well as the Academy’s colours, values and beliefs, we came up with a simple but effective design using a variety of graphics, icons, quotes and interactive display frames which can be updated easily to keep them looking fresh.

Execution

Execution made easy.

Huge wall graphics featuring quotes from role models as diverse as Sir Winston Churchill and Dame Jessica Ennis were produced and installed in the Academy’s hall. Healthy eating messages above the canteen were also used to encourage healthy eating choices. Fun imagery and typography were used on the library wall along with display quotes from Dr Seuss encouraging children to read more.

Results

Fantastic school wall graphics installed out of hours, on time and within the client’s budget.

The installation was a mixture of huge-cut vinyl lettering, bespoke dry-wipe walls and printed acrylic frames which allow for the imagery to be swapped and changed as required. The primary school graphics installation took place during the weekend, so there was no disruption to lessons.
